Huskies Top Millersville in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG- Megan Taylor (West Chester/ West Chester) scored two goals and added two assists and Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/ Methacton) netted two goals to lead the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to an 8-3 win over Millersville University on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Huskies record to 6-5, 6-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

The Huskies put the game away early jumping out to a 4-0 lead before halftime. Angie Picciotti (Chalftont/ Central Bucks West) opened the scoring four minutes into the game. Quigley, Taylor and Beth Stewart (Glenmore/ Downingtown) each netted goals to round out the first half scoring.

In the second half, Quigley and Cali Toms (Pottstown/ Pottsgrove) added two more goals, with Taylor assisting on both, to move ahead 6-0. After Millersville got on the board at the 43 minute mark, the Huskies rounded out their scoring with goals from Taylor and Cara McGroarty (Pottstown/ Pottsgrove). The Marauders scored two late goals to make the final score 8-3.

Picciotti finished with a goal and an assist and Kimberly Springman (Downingtown/ Bishop Shanahan) also added an assist. In goal, Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/ Little Flower) turned away 15 shots for Bloomsburg, while Brittany Wilkins (Barto/ Boyertown) had four grand balls and one caused turnover to lead the Huskies on defense.

Bloomsburg will host Philadelphia University on Monday at 4 p.m.
